Pallet Furniture
I recently discovered Pinterest, a virtual bulletin board for all the images that capture us on the web--and I'm now hooked on the constantly updated stream of funny, thought-provoking and inspiring images its members discover. As far as interiors go, I've been noticing trends in the images that are being pinned. One trend that I'm loving is the stacking of shipping pallets as daybeds, sofas and coffee tables. I love this idea on several levels. Firstly, it's extremely inexpensive. Pallets are a necessity of the shipping process that often end up in landfills when their initial task has been fulfilled. I've seen Ikea sell them for a song, which makes them the perfect candidate for recycling. But none of this would matter a bit if the end result wasn't gorgeous. To me these photos are proof that style doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg and that a couple of rustic pallets create a perfect place to crash at the end of the day, among other things.
My home for the weekend
Modern & Contemporary
Living in Miami, Florida
I am staying in downtown Miami this weekend in a friends place taking care of his pets while he is away on business. I am writing about this because my friend has what i believe to be one of the most spectacular apartments in Miami. A one sort of Studio apartment but unlike 90% of studios its a modern marvel of perfect interior design, architecture, and of course the furniture and exquisite art work found within the apartment.
And then of course there is the view of downtown Brickell and Miami, which is spectacular to say the least. The centerpiece of the apartment is a lit glass wall in the kitchen that is absolutely amazing and is one of the first things you see when you walk in. This leads into a living room sitting area that is spectacular followed by the bedroom area which sweals itself off by automated moving rolling white curtains.
Of course this apartment is not made for those of us who have kids or big families, its the perfect Bachelor pad or someone single and no kids because as many of you know having this type of apartment and kids most likely will not work. This is an apartment in a city where fun is the thought of the day and tourism and young hip crowds rule the day.
And remember the view I mentioned earlier, well wait till you see the balcony and the way it is furnished and way its laid out. All said, this is the perfect Miami home with the perfect design, interior, and equipped quite nicely. Please see the pictures found below.

Before I begin, Just a reminder to get your comment in on The Backyard Mushroom spore Giveaway in my previous post. Deadline is May 4th, so be sure to get your name in the ring for a chance to experience your own growing of Easy edible Mushrooms!
Our bee hive has been very active. With this hive, I am able to sit within a foot and at times just inches of their entry spot. It became so fascinating to watch their activity with the most amusing being the traffic jam of having just the finger width hole for entry & exit.
If you had read my last post from setting up their hive, you will remember I placed grass in the 1/2 inch spot where my entry reducer was just a tad too short on one end. {can be seen in the picture of our hive in that post}. The "House keeper" bee's have been very busy removing it all. Rather endearing to watch a small insect pulling a long blade of grass from the hole, so determined to get it done as others were constantly walking and bumping into it. Then you have the workers... What a thrill it was to notice the many different colors of pollen on their legs. Hues of bright to mellow yellow. Dark brown oranges to almost a neon orange in color. You begin to wonder where are they traveling to? What plant have they found that gives them such a color?
Not too mention, look at all the different sizes of their pollen collection. The larger amounts almost look like Saddle bags:
You can see the brighter color pollen collected on one of the bee's in this picture below. Not sure why, but the ones with the brighter color yellow's and Oranges were harder to catch for a photo. This is a poor example for sharing of brighter colors. Truly, there were many with more Neon color Nectar.
The winds picked up yesterday so Frog & I walked to the back field for some camera fun. The blades of field grass were bending so beautifully. Waves across the green. The clouds were beginning to get that stormy look as well.So full with variations of white and grey. The sun brightening their back drop. One of the most beautiful things in a Spring storm is when it has a long build up like this one. Air is so warm yet the strong winds have a slight coldness as they whip through. The clouds appeared almost as though they were racing above us. A perfect time to grab a blanket and wonder out to the field for some cloud watching and allow Frog to practice picture taking. She has taken a big interest in it of late. Being 5 1/2 she has not fully comprehended all the skills but has surprised with some of her random snapshots:
Now if this recent over pour of Rain will stay away for the weekend, I may actually get the chicken coop painted with it's final coating of color. I might even get The Captain to do the post holes for my Garden fencing. Yay!
Experimenting with a potential oh so cool project this week. I had read of it's doing in a book published for Ladies in 1890. Of course deciphering a certain material was nothing but a quick trip to my friends at Abruzzo's, my Favorite Home Brew shop. It's not what ya think, so stay tuned for a little tutorial and what to do with all those first time mini chicken eggs.
Sweet Dreams,

MODERN CONTEMPORARY KITCHENS FROM POLAND
POLISH MODERN, CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN DESIGNS
20 years ago if you had told the polish people that they would today be designing kitchens like these they would have laughed in your face as they were worried not about the looks of their homes but by the food they would eat that night, how they would feed their families, and how they would get cooking oil for the long Polish winters, brutal by Western Standards, even harsher with the living conditions suffered by the polish people at the time. A country once an industrial giant its cities were now concrete like structures, gloomy, dark, and style, well that word was not used. Forward twenty years from the fall of the Easter European Communist bloc countries and today Poland looks nothiong like it did back then. Modern, Contemporary gleAming skyscrapers have replaced the old buildings, ultra luxury town homes and lofts have replaced the old soviet style apartment block complex and the country's economy is back on track. Now considered to be hip and modern by anyone's standard I was very impressed to see such a big design studio on Kitchens based out of Poland. From communist low level un-noticeable blocks to the modern contemporary glass designs of today, My GOD freedom brings many many things...
Kitchen Inspiration
Today we feature the work of Meedo, a Poland based design studio that specializes in architectural visualization. They have an impressive portfolio and we thought the kitchens were especially well put together. While most of these renderings wouldn’t pass for photorealism, some of them feature solutions for spaces that are ‘life-like’ (read short-on-area). They also show off open living concepts and there are even one or two images that portray one room living.
