So how adorable is Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent's new LA home (have you seen)? They recently opened up their Hollywood Regency-style Los Angeles home to Harper's Bazaar for the August issue and I'm totally crushing on their adorable little kitchen. The two-bedroom was designed in 1939 by John Elgin Woolf and features original details like a green-and-black kitchen with a 1950s stove, marble-inlaid parquet floors and a stunning living room looking out onto a pool. Cool Decorating Trick? I love how they kept the original kitchen floor and stove (sometimes the original is best) and love how they incorporated the marble table and wall shelf. The newest issue of Covet Garden magazine is out featuring the happy home of a couple named Michelle and Glen. As mentioned in the magazine and by the looks of it, "it feels as if their home has been painted with a sunbeam", lots of happy, cheery stuff going on; including the fun shelf above their bed –which I thought should be added to our Cool Decorating Tricks collection. I spotted this kitchen in the April issue of Real Living recently which features exposed storage with raw timber and copper. Makes for a light industrial look and I love the idea of using copper pipes to hang the cookware, don't you? I think this would be a lovely little fix if you're looking for something pretty affordable and easy to do (maybe even as a temporary idea till you really renovate). Cool decorating trick! A fun idea for those with non-permanent housing (i.e. renters or college students) that want to brighten up a space with a bit of colour and originality. Marjorie of The Kipi blog thought up this brilliant and springy idea using fake bouquets of flowers (she got hers at Joann's - also ships to Canada) separating them and randomly taping them on using masking tape. A rustic take on the pot rack, this driftwood rack idea would fit easily into any style kitchen from modern to traditional and super easy to make (if not near an ocean - a larger fallen branch could be peeled of it's bark instead).
