Goal of the lemon...

I have a dream. An unspoken one that has only been shared with a few select people. More so in the fear I would be seen as more bizarre then they had thought before I shared my dream.

It started with the dream of a greenhouse. One to soothe my winter blues here in the north. A place where I can grow a patch of grass to lounge my bare feet, feeling the soft green blades caress my toes as I read a book or indulge in yoga. A place to transport me back to summer as the cold winter blows just outside my cocoon.

I get laughed at for that one before I even get to the rest so I always stop there....

I dream of having multiple greenhouses. One for the pleasure of a year round garden and my grass patch plus one.....

For a mass of Meyer's lemon trees. Yes. Citrus in the north. I dream of having a greenhouse dedicated to those sweet smelling tree's which bare fruit almost year long.

"Less acidic than traditional lemons, Meyers have a tang that's surprisingly softened by a beguiling sweetness. A cross between a lemon and a sweet orange, imported to the U.S. from China exactly 100 years ago by the man whose name they bear, the Meyer lemon is a furiously addictive fruit.

With sweeter juice, a thinner peel, less acid and a more floral scent (and taste) than other lemon varieties."

The times I let myself drift off into my dream, I envision Marvin Gaye playing in the background as I hand pollinate a mass of Meyer's lemon tree's. Whispering sweet crooning words to the delicate petals as I caress a q-tip covered in pollen to each waiting flower.
Crazy, ay? But nothing I do or dream seems to be "Normal".

I have read of a man in Wisconsin who has many greenhouses where he produces citrus and sells locally.

Meyers lemon tree's are more hardy for northern green house living and due to not having the ability of shipment ease, would be a welcome site for local chef's and restaurants. Not that it will make a large income but will afford me the luxury of a personal greenhouse and out of the work force zombie zone. I am not one to enjoy being stuck in a building of people. The politics and drama which come with the scene. I have tried. Really I have, but this...This is my niche'. I have such a love for growing things. Plants and animals are far more enjoyable then bending my life to fit for others.

So go ahead and laugh if you like. I have outed myself and am proud.

I have 2 Meyers lemon trees in the living room as a start to my someday dream. I plan to purchase 4 more when Guernsey's $25 off $50 spending special comes up again. I will continue purchasing my tree's and they will go into the Solar pit greenhouse until the day my dream can be realized.

My goals have seen many changes more so due to the fact I share my thoughts and words with others and as I delve deeper, going through trial tribulation in the goal, I find it is not for us. But this is one which has stood through time and I see it IS something for us. Something even into older age I can do and succeed.
Sweet Dreams,
~Tammie
