Bathrooms Are Changing

An article in Cincinnati.com about bathrooms informs us that renovations are on the rise with some surprising changes. Gone are the massive spa-tubs with jets and whirlpools. Gone are the little, smooth tiles. Gone are toilets and showers that use lots of water. What's in are doorless showers, soaking tubs, dual-flush toilets and low-flow showers with air injection that delivers that high, water pressure feel. In are big tiles and texture and color.

While walking during First Thursday, we visited Ann Sacks, which is HQ'ed in Portland. Here are two shots of the new bathroom look:

Notice the sink seems to exist without any plumbing in the top picture and in the bottom, notice the colored tiles and many of the tiles and textures available in the mirror.

Or take a look at this bathroom from Mike's article in Oregon Home:

Cabinet Makeover

Here's what the cabinet looked like before I painted and repaired it. It was plain white with green trim and flower decals. Ugh.

Now it's painted a masculine dark blue-gray with a little distressing, which I'm currently loving. Originally this was a liquor cabinet/bar, but I think it would make a great TV console to hide electronic components in a small space.

Fearless Fantasy Friday ~ Wallpaper, Painted Chairs, and Colour!

I see things like the images below....

... and I'm reminded of how I've been hankering to get some wallpaper somewhere in my house, even if it's just on a ceiling (oh yes, I WILL do that one day), and to paint some furniture in a bold colour. I've been eyeing off my dining chairs and a couple of bookcases for that adventure.

That last image, with its bold chairs and eye catching light fitting is pretty fearless too!

I found the pictures above over on House Of Turquoise. A feast for the eyes on this Fearless Fantasy Friday.

There's more too....

Have a great weekend everyone!

Gypsy Chick inspirations

I'm a chick Obsessed. As with any new adventure, I DIVE right in. I usually come up for air later on with just a few scratches...  Being this one has been a long term dream, it casts an even more surreal glow effect. Many thanks to Small farm Girl for her comment to my last post on the dilemma of contrasting decor themes. As to the subject of the Vintage camper decor, she suggested "Why not do both!". I began to think intensely upon those words and realized, if I change the Blue of the one choice into Turquoise and add some reds, rustic oranges and other desirable's in there to POP- I could mesh it together for the balance I sought. So the hunt began as I embraced my admiration for the Gypsy interior using Turquoise but keeping things middle road enough for The Captain.
I have contemplated some solar light self made lanterns to use with the camper being MANY candles in such close {and OLD} quarters is a bit scarey. Our local dollar tree has the landscape spike ones for $1 a piece which I knew fit perfect for my plans. the lanterns can be hung on the canopy or set on the ground in the sun during the day to charge & placed about for their evening enjoyment. I'll share a tutorial if you can wait that long but there are plenty of similar ideas on the net.
I am SO making a few of these knotted rope holders but a trip to the flower factory will produce much nicer glass vessels then mason jars {no proper gypsy chick would use Mason jars when they could be holding gems from the garden bounty~ unless of course they were tinted...}
Tutorial found over here at marthe Stewart living:

Speaking of tinted jars,I do believe this is pure WOW!
Who knew something as simple as GOLD puffy paint & food coloring dyed Modge podge would transform jars into Moroccan inspired lanterns! http://www.designsponge.com/2011/03/diy-project-moroccan-lanterns.html
Maybe not as perfect as the real thing but close enough! and boo coo bucks saved in the process.
Now how about a Moroccan inspired rug.Oh, the bust the budget price tag making you TRY to ignore the want? Then why not try out this tutorial using a shag rug and Rit dye!! Yep. Over at gorgeous & shiny things, you will find yourself in awe over the transformation you can create.
Has me turning the wheels on how I can transform a colored rug using bleach in place of the rit dye for some "milk thistle lily damask" Gypsy designs. Now where's that Bleach gel pen.....

Little brother Army brought me some very pretty scarves/shawl pieces from his time in the Middle East. He also made the mistake of showing me the bounty he still has filling rubbermaid containers when I helped them move from across (or is it diagonal) the country. I may have to seek out his willingness to part with a few more textile items in my color palette.
Over the last 6months I have noticed a few similar scarves with the gold thread woven in at the thrift stores. Of course at the time I resisted snatching them without a clue what i would do with them. Now? I'm smacking the forehead with after thought. while making mentals to start snatching away!
Picture & tutorial via American Gypsy
Over at American Gypsy {whom has inspired today's post}, has shared a way to get those exotic pillows using scarves. Of course, you could use throws or other large pieces to make pillows for the bed or floor lounging. Luckily I found her as I mooned over exotic pattern pillows, rugs and blankets. Scarves run a whole dollar at the thrifts here and textiles all run under $4. Now if I could only find the color scheme I desire, I would be set!

Now as for a piece to use on the outside of My Gypsy Chick caravan, an AWNING! Over at "This Montana life", you will find a very helpful {and again boo coo buck saver without the reduction in Glam}, easy Awning tutorial!  http://thismontanalife.com/make-your-own-awning-step-by-step/

One must have something, after all, to make shade as well as hanging those solar lanterns upon.

I truly have not a single idea on what color route to go with {burgundy? green?, ?,?} I am leaning to a solid color top with Indian influenced shape scallops. This is the Mediterranean scallop found via four seasons tent masters:
Yep. That's the shape I want hanging from the edge of the awning. Thankfully I have all winter to tackle that project.
Thank you for all the encouraging words & sharing in the happiness of my newest adventure. As you know, I'm all over the map.  Now you can throw in some Vintage Camper remodeling to the mix.
I go this Friday to measure her tires and HOPEFULLY find a used pair before bringing her home. otherwise she will be riding a landscape trailer. Who knew camper tires would be such an ordeal PLUS cost more then car tires? Gently Used tire shopping at boat yards & RV repair shops is in my future.
Sweetest dreams,
~Tammie

Chippy Walls- Inspiration

Tracery Interiors

When I came across this gorgeous photo the other day, it made me stop and stare. I just couldn't believe how charming these chippy, distressed wooden walls looked. I'm use to distressing furniture, but this takes distressing to an entire new level. I would love to try this application on a paneled wood wall or wood beam ceiling someday.

For more inspiration, check out these amazing interiors by Tracery Interiors. Their team does an amazing job designing these homes.

I love all the neutral color palettes used throughout these spaces. They all have a classic and timeless style that will not tire throughout the years. I'll definitely be referring back to these photos for inspiration when we build a house.

Thanks for stopping by.

Beware of Checks if you accept them.....

Beware of Checks if you accept them.....

A story to make all of you merchants aware of the danger in accepting checks...

I am sharing with all of you today a story that is incredible to believe even for someone who is going through it as we speak.. A couple of weeks ago I started to receive checks for work orders coming in to my online webstore, www.aghomegoods.com... I received a total of 7 work orders totaling 12,781.00 into the store..

I was happy as hell that many WO's and to a single customer it was going to be a good month after all.. Well that was then .. Fast forward two weeks later and the story changes.. All WO came in under PPN Holdings Limited, no problem there but under the scenes my assistant was talking to someone claiming to be Joelle Salgado, an old friend of mine using all his information and that he had started a new company by the name of PPN Holdings, Limited - Still no real red flag there but to me it would have been - You see Joelle Salgado was deported to Mexico back in March.. Yrea he could have come back but still a case worth a red flag.. Well to make a long story short about a week ago I received a call from someone claiming to be from PPN Holdings wanting to know what this was.. By this I mean AG Home Goods and that they had placed no orders through this store and that they were in no way responsible for the payments already made, cleared, and used to purchase furniture already delivered to someone or Joel Salgado himself.. Who this mystery person is I have no idea! Is it the real Joel Salgado? I have no idea? Does he have furniture that is worth over 7,000 that is now a loss to this company? Yes he does.. and who looses out in the end myself of course for trusting that checks received, cleared and deposited by bank were legal and legitimate..

As the bank of PPN Holdings, Limited reversed all charges going through their bank so I was left with a bank account that was negative 7,200, reversed checks for fraud, and the attention focusing on me and my store.. All because my assistant innocently took these WO's over the phone, received the funds, I deposited them,. they cleared the account, and we purchased and delivered the goods, most of which we had in stock.

Although today we filed a police report, got some relief from the people at the station, we are still out the 7,200 dollars in furniture we have already purchased and shipped to this person who we have no idea who it is... and thank GOD the last two checks did not go through the account and the orders cancelled because that would have made it over 12,000 in purchases... we would now be looking at losses.. Its amazing.. when you look at it a check can be duplicated by anyone..

They sell the check paper at office depot, office max, and just about anywhere stationary is sold.. All people really need is your check, routing number, account number and a simple check copy has all the information they need to do anything they wish with your account.. I mean print as many as you want and simply use them to buy things.. By the time the other party reacts, God only knows how many things you have purchased.. and all those stores simply loose that money as the originating bank always gets their money back, as they report the fraudulent activity.. I wonder what happens to thew people who do this on purpose..

Anyone can order checks online to any account and there is no verification... or print your own checks at home..

What is to stop a legitimate business from ordering a bunch of stuff using pay by check, having it delivered to a location other then their address, and then calling the bank and saying it was not them.. and to please reverse all charges.. HUH, one has to wonder..

I am writing about this to see if something similar has happened to anyone out there and if it has please send me the info as I would love to compare notes and maybe find who did this because now instead of having a good month I am having a horrible month.. I have losses totaling almost 8,000 and I don't even know how I am going to make that up.. Needless to say, Avant-Garde (AG Home Goods) is no longer accepting checks for orders unless you want us to hold the money for a period of three months and then send you your order. And actually we don't even want to do that,.. I do apologize for all of you who have paid by check and have sent in legitimate business checks to our checking account
