Real Wedding: Judith + Chris

We're kicking off monday with another beautiful wedding while we're still in the season of love here - (just a couple more weeks)! Time flies!  Thanks to Tracy Choy of The Bride Concierge for sending in this lovely set of photo's of the Fullerton wedding of Judith and Chris. The bride and groom, along with their family were much involved in the planning and making of this Californian-based wedding. Together they planted all the succulent favors and stamped the mini burlap bags of chocolate covered coffee beans. All the signage was designed and etched onto glass frames by the bride's talented sister and Judith and Chris really thought carefully about the overall design of their wedding day. Fave thing? The Villa del Sol location (and outdoor reception setting) and the copper and other metallic painted terracotta planters and beautiful succulents from the bouquet to table decor.  See more info at the bottom of the post.

Location: Villa del Sol, Fullerton, CA
Dress: Michelle by Robert Bullock
Bride's sash: Untamed Petals
Bride's jewelry: vintage
Suit: Hugo Boss
Bouquet/florals: Primary Petals (they spray painted the planters)
Caterer: Brownstone Catering
Music: Scratch Weddings DJ
Cake: Montrose Bakery
Lounge furniture: Yeah! Rentals

New Shop Alert: The Ring Cozy

How cool are these ring cozies? Ana Maria of Anamu (a former contributor here on Poppytalk) has a new venture I'm excited to share with you today (and so fitting for the season of love). After having trouble finding a place to put her ring while out exercising or playing sports, Ana Maria came up with this brilliant idea she has created called the Ring Cozy to protect your ring while exercising. Just cover up and go! She's designed two different styles for rings with or without raised stone settings and will have sizes for men and women.  Click here for more info!

Real Wedding: Erin + Dave

Today we're sharing the wedding of local couple Erin and Dave. Erin owns Collage Collage (which we've talked about from time to time here) here in Vancouver. When I first saw their photo's, my first thought was how much love there was between Erin and Dave and with also their friends and family. My favorite from their wedding of course has to be Dave's '67 yellow Chevelle SS - and their matching yellow accessories. Makes for a sunny wedding day! Check out their photo's below (and details from the wedding at the bottom of the post.

Real Wedding: Dana + Adrian

We have some magical pictures today from the Salt Spring Island wedding of Dana Lee and Adrian Buitenhuis taken by the talented Jennilee Marigomen, a Canadian photographer (we featured her work before on the blog - a beautiful west coast beachy shoot - if you're interested - check it out here).  Jennilee photographed these beautiful picks where the guests feasted on local oysters and enjoyed an outdoor community-style meal.  I love how Jennilee photographs the unexpected and captures light –it's simply magical and makes you feel like you're almost in the picture. See more pics below.

Real Wedding: Kamelli + Chris

To continue on our Real Weddings month, today we're featuring a local wedding, and a lovely DIY one at that .  Amy Tran & Kamelli Mark of Vancouver and Edmonton-based wedding planners All & Sundry sent over this lovely wedding of Kamelli and Chris which was held at the Chinese Bunkhouse at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard (a national historic site) in Steveston, BC.

All & Sundry's brief for this wedding was simple and we asked them to explain, "We wanted to focus on the natural beauty of the venue and chose our decor elements to complement the natural wood tones throughout the interior and exterior. To maximize our small decor budget, we did a lot of thrifting and DIY projects such as the pennants, chair ribbons, table runners, and cake-toppers. We wanted the floral arrangements to have a big impact, but ever mindful of the budget, we focused on creating visual interest and charm by using collections of smaller rustic arrangements with flowers sourced through local urban farmer, Farmers on 57th, who happened to grow the brideʼs favourite sweet pea flowers. As it was an afternoon wedding, the reception culminated in a late lunch of organic sandwiches and salads, followed by a dessert buffet of assorted cakes, handmade marshmallows from Butter Bakery, and fruit from the local farmerʼs market. We felt like the casual simplicity of both the menu and the presentation of the food were a true reflection of the coupleʼs style and of the overall theme of the day itself, while remaining true to our mandate of working with local suppliers and producers in the true spirit of a collective".

Sounds awesome, let's take a look shall we? (All photos by Tomasz Wagner).

Show Some Love!

Susy Jack has been wanting to put her spin on modern decorative arts into temporary tattoo form for a while now, and Valentine's Day seemed like the perfect opportunity! Her brand new Art of Love series features six styles of classic black tattoos - four illustrated sets and two knuckle sets!

Wearable and share-able these tattoos were created to look real, inspired by the great tattoos Susy sees on the daily commute to her Bushwick, Brooklyn studio, and by her love of creating new avenues for "decoration". They're perfect as a quick gift on their own, or for tucking into a traditional card. We also love them as an edgy addition to the wedding category.

The Details:
Made in the USA.
Art Sets: $6.50 | Knuckle Sets $7.50
Each package contains two sets of tattoos.
Non Toxic, Easily Removable

Real Weddings: Amanda + Simon

We're kicking off our special "Real Weddings Month" with the beautiful Canadian wedding of Amanda and Simon that recently took place in beautiful Lake Louise, Alberta. Kirstie Tweed of Orange Girl sent in this absolutely stunning set of images of a wintery wedding scene.  The December wedding took place at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise which included taking the entire wedding party for a gorgeous mountain sleigh ride.  Favorite thing –the splash of blue tuile in the back of her dress and how the horses in one of the pics below seem to be in love too! Check out more pics below (vendor information at the bottom of the post).

Some notes about Amanda & Simon's wedding;

-Amanda's dress was custom made for her and featured flowers that were from her mother's dress
-The fabric bouquet had two pocket watches attached to the stem, one that was on Canadian time and one that was on Australian time
-After the ceremony guests were given hand warmers and invited for a sleigh ride around Lake Louise before settling in for a private dinner
-The hand warmers were from an Australian store called Typo.
