Handmade Nation's co-author, Faythe Levine is at it again with another inspiring documentary, this time teaming up with Sam Macon to create Sign Painters, a film about the almost lost art of hand sign painting, and the recent renaissance of the trade. The first screening will be held at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC on March 30th (more information here). And there are additional screenings being scheduled at this time around the U.S., Canada (Vancouver - June 8th) and overseas including a mixture of public screenings at festivals, schools and museums. Stay tuned to their website where they will keep a running list on details, as well follow them on Facebook and Twitter where they will diligently announce new screenings a head of time.
If you are or know someone who is interested in putting together programing surrounding the film please email signpaintermovie@gmail.com to start the conversation.
Also check out their accompanying book through Princeton Architectural Press.
